Cloud Infrastructure Migration

The Challenge

A mid-sized fintech company was running their entire platform on aging on-premise servers. They faced scaling limitations during peak trading hours, high maintenance overhead, and compliance concerns with their current setup. The team needed to migrate to the cloud without any service interruption, as downtime would directly impact their customers' trading activities.

Our Approach

We started with a comprehensive infrastructure audit and created a detailed migration plan with clear milestones. Using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), we replicated the production environment in AWS, allowing for thorough testing before any traffic was moved. We implemented a phased migration strategy, starting with non-critical services and gradually moving core systems using blue-green deployment patterns.

The Solution

The new AWS infrastructure leveraged ECS Fargate for containerized workloads, RDS for managed databases with Multi-AZ deployment, and ElastiCache for session management. To address compliance requirements, we implemented encryption at rest and in transit, centralized audit logging with CloudTrail, and network segmentation using private subnets and security groups. We set up a complete CI/CD pipeline using GitHub Actions with automated testing, security scanning, and deployment approvals. CloudWatch and custom dashboards provided comprehensive monitoring, while AWS WAF and Shield protected against threats.
